Automatic Dock Shelter is mainly used in situations where an optimal sealing is required, and in which large differences in vehicle size apply. Further more the dock shelter is well-suited to serve as a drive through shelter.
Dock shelter front projection model consists of a stable construction with an anodised and extruded aluminium front frame anda hot-galvanized steel rear frame. the solid and rigid construction provides an optimal strength during side loading, ensuring that the bottom sections do not deflect outwards.
The frames are connected by means of hinged arms. these ensure that the dock shelter can retract in the event of inaccurate docking, to prevent damage to the dock shelter and vehicle. In retracted position the vehicle – at the location of the top curtain remains accessible for loading and unloading while using internal transportation means.
The front projection is closed by means of a continuous projection cover made from one single piece of material. as such any chinks between the attachments at the dock shelter sides and top side can be prevented, meaning draught or leakage will not apply. the position inland form (integrated drainage at the top side) of the continuous projection cover ensure optimal drainage. rain water is drained off from the dock shelter side. this ensures that no water will enter the door opening during loading and unloading, as such goods and products will be protected.
Due to the intensive working load of the curtain material, a high quality of tear and wear resistance is applicable. the curtains can be delivered in various models.
Optimum aesthetic finish
Robust flaps made of durable material
Continuous projection cover prevents leakage
Stiffness in lateral load
The Crawford 662 SMP is a curtain dock shelter which is available in a large variety of heights and widths. This model includes a self-adjusting top section which automatically adapts to different vehicle heights and vertical movements. The vehicle reverses into Crawford 662 SMP curtain shelter which seals it off with flexible side and top curtains, giving weather protection during the loading and unloading process.
The result is an improved working environ ment and goods protection. The curtain material has a very high wear and tear resistance. The Crawford curtain dock shelter programme comprises a number of models, meeting all customer demands and suitable for a wide range of vehicle sizes.
Should a vehicle deviate from the dock-in centreline and hit the shelter frame, built-in springs allow the shelter to follow the movement without being damaged. Its flexibility and high wear and tear resistance, in combination with a high price-performance ratio, contribute to the fact that the vast majority of all European loading bays are equipped with this standard dock shelter.
Unique fixation of front curtains to frame:
High focus on the environment:
- Unlike conventional mechanical dock shelters, the front curtains of the Crawford 662 SMP are fixed to the front frames with steel balls. The steel balls hold the fabric in place inside the frame in a flexible way allowing movement during impact from trucks. The result is that the tear resistance of the fabric is increased and breaking points are avoided. This solution is based on factory made holes in the fabric versus holes made by screws or nits.
- All Crawford mechanical dock shelters can be equipped with a number of standard options for improved working conditions and less draught into the building. See the next page for more detailed information.
